" Considering the safety precautions we all must abide by, I think 1st Pet is excellent. Everything is explained and still excellent care of our pets/service animals is provided. " Impressed by the caring nature of the tech that came out to receive my dog. She was concerned about his feet walking across the hot pavement. Due to the Covid 19 restrictions, personal contact with the Vet or entry into the facility was not allowed. I had no problem with this. However I was assured that under valid circumstance, arrangements are made. Only problem I had is usual... Small type on the instructions for the meds. Pretty normal issue for older eyes. Magnifier was needed. "

" When we were told to come pick Zoe up, we asked that they put the mertaaipzn in her ear for us, and we brought it with us. E asked this because this whole trip was so traumatic to her we knew we would have problems putting it in her ear. We waited and had to call to remind them we were out there with the medication. " My little Missy, is a blue heeler and very distrusting of strangers. I was very surprised to hear she was so sweet and such a sweetheart! If my little girl trust the staff, I definitely trust the staff as well. I’ve had calls from the vet stating my little girl tried to bite the staff. I would ask are you standing over her, because I would feel threatened if someone was approaching from above me. I am so happy my little Missy is no longer anxious when I take her to the vet! I have to thank you for treating her with so much positive re-enforcement, she no longer fears the vet! Thank you!! "

" I know you are busy on weekends, but it took 5 hours for the Dr. to see my pet and then contact me. Waitng for the lab results took another 3 hours. " Bronco has had a very traumatic experience being at another pet hospital. I was skeptical at first fearing that my sick dog might experience another repeated unpleasant event. I spoke with the vet and he assured me that Bronco would be kept comfortable and would not remember his procedure. I was relieved to hear that. The true testament was when Bronco came to the car. He was much more relaxed even though he had spent a night at the hospital. The staff was compassionate and patient with me. They assured me that I wasn't a ''crazy dog' Mom.'' " The vet called when he first went in to see our dog and was going to take xrays and a culture and call us back. Never heard from him but the discharge gal called with discharge instruction. We visited and told her I needed to know what they found, etc. She was very helpful, reading his report to me and said she’d have him call and he’d tell us when to come get her. He NEVER called, so we finally just went and picked her up. Thank goodness for the discharge gal or she’d still be there! Wait time - over 8 hours drop off to pickup. "

" Things were explained very well in detail by the vets. Need improvement when scheduling a future appointment and there isn't one open for that day at that particular location. There are other locations and the front office person didn't bother checking the other facilities for availability until I asked. Other than that prices aren't to horribly expensive. $70 regular office visit and $140 for emergency visits. Would definitely return/recommend them. "

" Everything was great! But one front desk person(we think it was a front desk person) wasn't very nice or helpful. His name was Matthew. I don't know if he was mis-informed or new or something, but he wasn't too nice to us and was really confusing. We had to drop off our Pet due to the Global health crisis, so then we were told we could leave and they would call with an estimate. Anyways, we get a call from him 5 hours later with a voicemail saying that we need to come pick her up as she can't be treated tonight. That was really odd since, we dropped her off for an emergency vet, we knew there would be a wait, but he said that they couldn't treat tonight? So I called back and he explained that we needed to come get her, and then drop her off again in like 5 hours....? He said the vet was in emergency surgery and couldn't attend to her at the moment. Which I understand about that, but having to come get her at 1 in the morning and then drop her off 5 hours later? It was really odd. Anyways, I was confused, so I called again, asked him to check on her to see if she ate anything, and turns out, the vet was able to look at her. So besides Matthew, who really wasn't very nice and was almost rude in a way to us, this place was great! Honestly, the Vet, the vet techs and every other receptionist was amazing! They were very nice and listened to our concerns, and we were able to figure out what was wrong with our puppy. Days later, she is doing MUCH better! I've worked in customer service before, so I understand if there was mis-communication with Matthew, but, at the very least, he could have sympathized better(We were distraught that our puppy was having to be in the hospital, on top of that she apparently COULDN'T Be treated that night for some reason) or have been a little bit more clear instead of sounding condescending to me as I was clearly confused and was told differently by literally everybody else. Yeah, he even said because we WEREN'T there, the vet had to skip our puppy. Which, idk if that's the reason, but.... the vet tech said they would call after they had diagnosed her...? He made it seem as if we had to wait there while the puppy was waiting to be treated and they he said we HAD to be there in person to get an estimate? Yet, the vet was able to tell us that over the phone. I don't know if that's the code for you guys or not, but we weren't told that we needed to wait. And on top of it, the vet did look at her anyways, without us being there, and they were able to give the estimate over the phone. So again. He just really wasn't very nice to us and he sounded pretty annoyed when we called back. We hope we don't have to pay another visit to the emergency vet, but if we do, hopefully we don't have to interact with Matthew as he was not helpful nor sympathetic towards our situation in the least. I would still rate this place 5/5 stars, just would put a note to avoid talking to Matthew. Thanks again though! "

" We chose 1st Pet vet because it is a 24hour clinic and wanted to get our puppy in first thing that morning. We were impressed by this vet clinic from the moment we walked in. It smelled amazing and nothing like animals. We could tell they put a lot of effort into making the place smell nice. It was refreshing and not what we expected. The receptionist took us right back to a room. She was extremely friendly and courteous and told us that she could put Netflix on for our son, and they had snacks, juice and water while we waited. The aesthetic of the clinic was beautiful, each room had fish tanks built into the wall, really cool. The room we were in was very clean. The vet tech and vet were really nice and professional the whole time while examining our puppy. The vet explained everything effectively and gave us different options with no pressure/obligation to do more treatments. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and I would definitely recommend 1st Pet Vet! "

" I rushed my 14 year old corgi into the clinic at 2 am. She was having a seizure. I was promptly admitted and taken to a room. They took her to the vet immediately. The vet tech attended to ME while the vet took care of my baby. I was very upset and scared. They told me everything they were doing for her as it was happening. Their treatment of my corgi and me was exceptionally high quality and considerate. It is comforting to know that I have a place like this to depend on in an emergency. "

The dog defecated and your staff moved us to another room. Our dog continued to drool and the urinated in the second room. I think you should have just kept the dog in the back after the injection while waiting for the examination. the wet floors were a slip and fall hazard, not to mention the smell. "

" I was so impressed with 1st Pet!!! First of all the place was immaculate! The room was quiet. There were other people and pets there, but we never heard a peep! The vet assistant that saw him first was really great. The doctor was fantastic. We had to have Xrays taken and the doctor was very forthcoming about the results. They did a follow up call and then the doctor called with the results from radiology. While our little guy will need further treatment, I am so glad that we took him in and that we know where they are and that they are open 24 hours for future reference. I cannot give enough praise for a great experience, even though our little guy was hurting!!! Thank you !!!! "

Unlike my recent experiences with other vets, there was no impassioned encouragement of a costly battery of tests that may or may not help in the diagnosis. The medication prescribed did the job and I was also given some medication for a secondary problem that appears to be helping. The additional cost for an emergency examination was not nearly as inflated as similar services provided by other vets who take advantage. As with my first visit, the vet tech was also very good. The tech was also very kind and understanding of our concerns. The part where you need to do better is with some of your desk staff. Melissa or Alisa, I don’t know what her name is left a voicemail on MY phone to call back. I was busy at work so I let my fiancé do this. She wasn’t available so he called back maybe an hour later. The staff member who picked up the phone had a nasty attitude. They stupidly forgot to put him on hold and had the audacity to say “Again?!” When they found out my fiancé was calling a second time. He heard this exchange and gave a piece of his mind and rightfully so. Although this is an animal clinic, I still hold the same standards as I would a hospital since I am a physician. It’s probably not a good idea to show exasperation to a worried family member after they were told to call back for follow up. If you don’t have the patience to deal with someone calling twice to follow up about concerns on their sick pet then you probably need to consider working with a different population. Overall the staff have been excellent but that interaction is not okay. "

Also, being able to help the tech assist in giving treatment. This helps the owner feel like they are helping their pet get better. The staff is amazing, they show how much they care about your pets health and you as a pet parent well being. I was amazed that it didn't cost me an arm and a leg with such luxury service. " The desk staff was super nice, but VERY loud. It was a bit overwhelming for we humans; I imagine more-so for our poor hurt and scared pup. It's good to have laughs and conversations, but maybe keep in mind you have stressed pets and people coming in. Other than that this little blip, it was an EXTRAORDINARY experience and we wish First Pets was closer for routine care, rather than an emergency we had while in the Mesa area. Dr. Sanchez was fabulous! "

" We are older and have heart issues, and had to carry our 30lb dog who could not walk and was in pain. We were told that someone could get us a gurney, but despite repeated requests, we were told to “just carry him, it is not far”. We had to take turns carrying him, which caused him unnecessary pain, and me to have trouble breathing. "

" I went in thinking my dog had kennel cough, that wasn't the case. She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure ... Not the news a dog mom wants to here. Dr. Begay was truly amazing, and kind hearted when telling me the news. I had a scared moment later that day and brought her back up, within seconds they took her back to check her. The fact they called me the following day to check on her again meant so much. I felt so comfortable there that for the rest of her appointments I would like her to be checked there! Thank you so much "

" I really appreciated that, when i called in a panic with my cat, the staff calmly explained a procedure to safely bring my pet into the hospital in our car. The technician was very helpful with getting the cat out of our car and into the office (he had cactus stickers all over him). I was slightly disappointed that it took so long (about 3 hours) for the cat to actually be seen by the doctor, but they DID explain that they were currently handling a dog who was in a critical situation. In the meantime, our cat was given a pain medication/shot and we were told the animals were kept in a room with same-type animals (cats with cats, etc.) which was dimly lit, in order to reduce anxiety in the animals. The whole atmosphere was calming. Complimentary snacks were appreciated, as we were starving after a couple hours waiting. My one wish would be that our cat could have been seen by the doctor sooner, so as not to have had the cactus stickers in him for 3 or so hours. Overall, the experience went well, cat is now fine. The bill was comparable to another, similar situation we had a few years ago with our other cat at another vet. "

The doctor did a great job of explaining our options, and helped us make a very difficult decision by ensuring we understood what our dog was going through. Aaron, the technician was exceptional. His compassion was obvious. In fact, everyone there was absolutely fantastic, which was helpful during such a difficult time. "

" It was a 3 hour wait for something that was resolved in 15 minutes. We were told there weren't enough doctors employed anymore to attend to all the patients. We were asked to schedule an important follow up appointment within 3 days but then were told the next available appointment wasn't for 8 days. Otherwise, we were extremely pleased. The snack basket helped us survive the 3 hour stay. "

" My cat, Sheldon, is very skittish and is scared of new people but he trusted the staff right away. I'm a firm believer that animals can sense things and the fact that he was perfectly okay with them poking and prodding at him I believe is a good sign. They took very good care of him and of me as well. They reassured me that he was just suffering from kitty cold and he would be okay. Treatments were recommended but not pushed and they told me what was most important for him that day and what could wait if he didn't get better. I felt such a sense of relief after seeing them. They are definitely our vet if anything should happen in the future. And i'm happy to report that he's feeling much better today! Thank you to the staff at 1st Pet for taking such good care of my baby!!!! "

" We were sent from another Vet's Office to 1st Pet. As soon as we walked in the door with our new 5.5 week old pup who had a snotty discharge from her nose and had earlier was gasping for air was given direct attention from front desk staff, who called up staff so pup could be triaged immediately. Tech took pup to the back and gave oxygen and for Vet to look at. My 9 yr old granddaughter were put into a nice waiting room and a snack tray was brought in-it was nice for her to have an after school snack, since I had to pick her up from school to be able to get the pup to vet. Vet Begay came in and we spoke about the pups health and options. Took puppy home with antibiotics and advice. Happy to report the pup is doing very well! Follow up call was a nice touch. Love the great customer service and wonderful pet care. Thanks everyone, for the peace mind you provided to us for our new family member Evie-frenchie/pug mix. "

" The wholes staff, receptionists, technicians, and the veterinarians who we intersected with, were both professional and compassionate, eager to accommodate and inform at every opportunity. The facilities, including reception area, examination rooms, and backroom kennel areas were comfortable and immaculate. Most importantly, Dr. Deer saved our dog's (Lucy) life, not once, but twice. She performed life-saving emergency surgery on Lucy for bloat, During the surgery, she found and and informed us of a large cancerous tumor on Lucy's liver that subsequently was successfully removed (at a different, non-emergency facility). Taking your beloved pet to an emergency clinic is always stressful, if not traumatic, but the people at 1st Pet in Mesa made our experience as comfortable as possible. "
