" The front desk tech referred my beloved pet in the past tense which was not professional and very upsetting "
" We were sent from another Vet's Office to 1st Pet. As soon as we walked in the door with our new 5.5 week old pup who had a snotty discharge from her nose and had earlier was gasping for air was given direct attention from front desk staff, who called up staff so pup could be triaged immediately. Tech took pup to the back and gave oxygen and for Vet to look at. My 9 yr old granddaughter were put into a nice waiting room and a snack tray was brought in-it was nice for her to have an after school snack, since I had to pick her up from school to be able to get the pup to vet. Vet Begay came in and we spoke about the pups health and options. Took puppy home with antibiotics and advice. Happy to report the pup is doing very well! Follow up call was a nice touch. Love the great customer service and wonderful pet care. Thanks everyone, for the peace mind you provided to us for our new family member Evie-frenchie/pug mix. "

" Nothing. My visit with Charlie was excellent. Front staff was thoughtful and kept asking if they could do anything for me. The technician was friendly and great with Charlie, and Dr. Deer was awesome with her care for Charlie while making sure I knew what she was doing. "
" My only complaint is that it took awhile to be done. I do realize that it was the day after Xmas and with that said it was faster then I thought it would of been. The staff was awesome to us and are dog and we will be back to see them again. "

" Keep me updated more frequently with the wait time. There was a 2 hour wait for a dr. when I got there. The intake technician and doctor were very kind and gentle. The discharge technician was not. Otherwise it was a great experience. "

" It was good but i didnt like that the tech and the doctor heard two different lung sounds. The tech heard wheezing and the doctor said the lungs were clear... otherwise the visit was fine "
" The wholes staff, receptionists, technicians, and the veterinarians who we intersected with, were both professional and compassionate, eager to accommodate and inform at every opportunity. The facilities, including reception area, examination rooms, and backroom kennel areas were comfortable and immaculate. Most importantly, Dr. Deer saved our dog's (Lucy) life, not once, but twice. She performed life-saving emergency surgery on Lucy for bloat, During the surgery, she found and and informed us of a large cancerous tumor on Lucy's liver that subsequently was successfully removed (at a different, non-emergency facility). Taking your beloved pet to an emergency clinic is always stressful, if not traumatic, but the people at 1st Pet in Mesa made our experience as comfortable as possible. "

" We had already been to another emergency clinic and felt that did not do a thorough job of diagnosing our dog. Therefore, we took her to another !st Pet Vet, where they showed more concern and was very thorough in diagnosing the dog. The meds perscribed have done wonders in her ability to walk better, she still has some issues in getting up, she is up in years, so its expected. But once she is walking, she shows more energy than she has the last 5 days. She's eating better after they prescribed some foods that would enhance her appetite. We are happy with the results we are seeing. We do understand that most people would have put her down, she's been with us for over 8 years and it just did not seem right. We took a chance that her ailments could be dealt with and it is working, so we are happy and so is she... she's living again!! "
" I did not like the remarks that the doctor made by indicating that who would not leave there pet in the hosp. It is individuals that do not have 4000.00 at a drop of a bucket but does not make us less of a person. "

" The staff responded quickly and efficiently when I brought in dogs that had consumed rat poison. When I didnt have the name of the poison yet, the tech started googling what it might be to try and figure it out faster. That was so helpful! The dr explained everything so well and answered all if our questions. The dogs are doing much better thanks to the quick acting staff! Thank you so much! "
" It took about three hours. Being an emergency hospital, I expect a triage priority and likely delays. It would have been great to have someone from the front desk pop in at some point and give me an idea when the doctor would be in. But all things considered, they were very good. "

" Dr. Bettenhausen was so kind and really efficient. I let him know I had to leave for California in 6 hours and he made sure my dog was seen ASAP so I could get out the door. There was a slight mix up with billing but the whole team was really apologetic and explained exactly what had happened with undercharging me, I definitey didn’t mind paying more, it was a simple mix up and I’m sure its just because they were trying to help me out and get me out the door so I wouldn’t miss my flight. The front desk staff was really kind and everyone was so sweet to my pup, who was definitely a little nervous, best possible experience I could have had at an emergency vet. "

" A Keurig would be nice, but it's fine that you don't have one. The specialist/emergency I used to go to didn't offer snacks, but they offered a Keurig and a candy jar, and that was more than adequate. I'd rather have that than snacks! "

" I understand that veterinary care is expensive, but y'all have like 6 fish tanks to maintain, 3D walls and all sorts of fancy "suites" fully stocked with cold beverages and snacks that make you feel like you're paying to maintain a 4 star hotel vs the only emergency vet in the area. The gals were great, we figured out what was wrong with our pup right away. They were very helpful in prioritizing the treatment plan as we declined a few items to avoid any additional costs. They follow up called to make sure and she ok. They understood we were worried and also on a time crunch, very patient kind and genuinely concerned about situation. Over all it was a great experience with personnel. "
" we are bringing in our recent rescue and the staff interacted with him very well, as we do not know a lot about his background. they made him and us as comfortable as possible. the main reason we switched from our previous vet was distance traveled and the in house services that are offered by firast pet. it elimanates the long wait for results. overall very pleased with the whole experience. " I understand that at night there are emergencies and that could result in a long wait. The chairs in the exam room are comfy but after a hour of waiting they are not. I just wanted to lay down with my dog to comfort her but she is a 70 pound pitbull and I couldn't let her jump on the small chair with me. Maybe if there was a bean bag chair or something a little bigger that a pet parent could stretch on and relax with their pet it would make the wait not so bad. "

" Everything was outstanding. I have no negative comments. The techs and Dr were incredible. My 3 month old puppy was having horrible respiratory issues. They quickly determined he had kennel cough probably picked up at his regular vet a week before when he was in for his shots. The X-ray showed we caught it early and meds were prescribed. By the next day he was breathing much better and could sleep. The entire experience was fantastic. "

" My dog has (12 yr old pit.) Has always been healthy. Clinic visits for shots at Petco. The first time, I needed an ER visit, I was referred to 1st Pet. I will never go anywhere else. This visit was especially scarey and Dr Kung (sp) was beyond what I could have expected. Hje was absolutely amazing!!! "

" The only frustrating part is the wait time. When you bring your pet in, especially for an emergency visit, it is because they are sick or injured. Our wait time this visit was extremely long. I understand there was a critically injured pet that was brought in and I do sympathize, I am very sorry for that family and that pet but with that being said, being that you are a 24 hour emergency pet hospital, there should be enough staff to handle each case that comes in. Other than the wait time, the staff was extremely friendly, caring and courteous and everyone there made us feel welcome and was very attentive to my dog. It's just hard to sit and wait for hours when you have a very sick pet. "

Your doctor injected her with antibiotics and your technician gave me tips on how to clean her face until she recovers from the upper respiratory infection she has had for several weeks. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The cat hadn't been eating, but she felt so much better after our visit, that she began eating again as soon as I got her home. We had to wait a bit to see the vet, as an emergency case came in that needed immediate attention, and it was great to be able to wait in a private room for such a long time, this is much less stressful for my dog. One suggestion for longer waits, I couldn't find a dog water dish in the room, I would have liked to be able to have my dog be able to drink while waiting. I would have asked the front desk staff, as they were very helpful, but I didn't feel comfortable leaving my dog alone in the room to do that. "

" I was very happy and impressed with service from the tech, vet and front person. It was very stressful to see my dog in pain and unsure of what was wrong and you guys put my son and I at ease as you cared for out fur baby. That being said, the vet student from Pima Medical would benefit from active listening, compassion and to have a more thourough understanding of charges or processes prior to being rude and argumentative with an attitude...especially in such a stressful time. I got 3 different explanations when asking about a charge to which I had an idea of how it worked but wanted clarification, as the visit was a few hundred dollars, and to get attitude and uncertainty, it makes one question the charges. The front person was able to come in and explain correctly and that was the saving grace. You guys are wonderful! I will definetly bring my fur babies here from now on! "

" The lady checking us in at reception was somewhat combative. My dog had been in previously for an emergency visit and the discharge instructions said to call if issues got worse. Issues had gotten worse, so I'd called to see what they recommended. The receptionist at the time suggested making an appointment for later in the day, so we did that. When I showed up, the person checking us in said that I shouldn't have made an appointment with them and that we needed to go to our regular vet. I told her that our regular vet couldn't get our dog in and I'd done what I'd been advised by the previous vet and the receptionist prior. She didn't drop it until we agreed to switch our primary vet to 1st Vet. I'm very happy with the staff and the office otherwise, but having to deal with a cranky receptionist when I've been up all night with a very sick dog wasn't appreciated. We will be back, though, as we're happy with 1st Vet overall. "

My dog had split a toenail the day before and when taken into our primary vet they flipped the nail but said that if she continues to rip it she may require surgery. The next day she tore it again and it looked horrible. No question, we took her to 1st pet to be looked at. After a lengthy wait as they were busy the doctor took a look and said it only needed to have a small portion clipped and no damage was done. He felt so bad that we weren't even charged for the entire visit. This in my opinion is good business and I will definitely be back!! "

" i was very impressed not only at the fast check in but the fact they were very friendly with my pet... the office is beautiful and the complimenty snacks while waiting were a plus... the vet listened to all of my questions and did not do a lot of extra needless tests to rack the bill up really high... i had that happen at another 24 hr office not affiliated with 1st pet and the bill was $1200.00 and they still didnt fix his issue and i ended up having to take him to my regular vet to get fixed what was the initial problem that they didnt deal with. 1st pet was awesome and they even did a follow up call the next day to make sure that he was doing all right... also sent the message to my regular vet so its in their records and that they could also do a follow up exam. would recommend them to everyone that needs a vet.. When we arrived we were quickly moved to an exam room where technician Linda did an initial assessment and briefed the doctor. Our doctor was very friendly with me and my dog, did a thorough exam and ran necessary tests to diagnose our problem. We were presented with a treatment plan and offer of phone support where needed. Linda helped me to resolve some concerns.and.questions over the following 2 days. We are now successfully managing what may be a Neuro problem until we return home. We had encounters with two technicians over the 3 days our dog was hospitalized that were fair, otherwise they were very good to excellent. Same with the doctor's. Some were excellent, speaking of Dr. Butler, Dr. Hollomon, Dr. Kirkhope. One was just fair, name not to be mentioned. Dr. Greene, an outside consultant who was called in for an ultrasound procedure, was also excellent. Overall, we are recommending you facility to all our friends. "

" My dog had a stroke, which I did not know at the time. The vet there literally talked me out of putting her down (she is only 8) and, as a result, I took her to a neuro specialist and she is now home with me almost as good as new. With everything else that has happened, losing my Dawn doggie would have just been too much. Thanks solely to the professionalism of the vet, I was spared this additional tragedy and my best friend with fur is still with me. "

Everything was really excellent service, from the front desk greeting to the care my dog received, which of course is the most important thing. The amount of time it took before I actually saw the doctor, was a little on the long side. But since you are asking I would say that is the only thing that could have been improved, The aesthetics of the facility was very zen like, and calming. I know it helped my dog & I to be more calm in the middle of an emergency situation. The staff,as I mentioned from the front desk to the doctor, and the technician was exemplary. " Everything was great, given the circumstances. Typically you don't go to an emergency vet with a pet who is well, but given that, our experience was phenomenal. THe front desk staff was friendly and helpful when I spoke with them and asked questions, the nurse and doctor both really cared about the well being of my hurt dog, and they called me multiple times over the next couple of days to check on my dog and give me updates on what they found on the x-rays. Cost was more affordable than what I was expecting as well. "
